I have sereal problems

Nov 24, 2012 at 11:42 AM

I just updated my system to Windows8Prox64.

Before, using Win7prox64, I had no problems with BrowserChooser.

But now...

First of all, my normal profil for daily usage is a restricted user, but I do have Admin access to.

1. After installing BC as admin and starting it as restricted user, I got the first error.

I found out, that BC did not create the needed folder C:\Users\restricted user\AppData\Roaming\BrowserChooser and its content, but the folder was there in the admin profil.

So I created that forlder myself in restricted user profil (using restricted profil, so BC should be able to do that itself too) und the needed .xml file.

Now BC started, but when trying to set it up, it will ask for admin rights. So I won't set it up for the restricted user, but for the admin profil. So I have to edit and change the .xml file manually for restricted user.

2. I set BC up to be standard for .htm, .html, .shtml, .xht, .xhtml, ftp, http and https in the windows standard program options. But whenever I call up an url (typing in adress bar or clicking on a link in mail client or anything else), BC just crashes.

When I start BC via link/shortcut, it will work as intended, I can choose a browser.

So for now, I have to copy all urls, start BC, choose a brower in paste the url. Very uncomfortable. Just clicking on a link calling up BC worked very well on why not now?

Did I set up BC wrong?

Is is just simply not fully Win8 compatible?

Any ideas or hints what I can do to get it working as intended?
